History
Established in 1951, The Tennessee Professional Photographers Association has a
rich history, expanding education and resources for professional photographers throughout the state and region.
These individuals have directed the Tennessee Professional Association over the years
and have created a nationally recognized organization.
Their input is still requested through the Past President's Club. They support the Ron Warwick Memorial Scholarship by selling couple/group photographs from a convention party.
TENNESSEE HALL OF FAME
All Hall of Fame honorees are recognized for their photographic excellence and their contribution
to photography as an art form.
A display album of their work is located in the print salon area at the annual convention.
TENNESSEE LIFETIME MEMBERS
Life Membership in the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association is granted, by the board of directors, to those longstanding members that have given above and beyond to further the TPPA.
Life members have a rights and priviledges of an active member.

THE PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS OF AMERICA
MASTER of PHOTOGRAPHY DEGREE
As a member of the Professional Photographers of America, one may earn
a Master of Photography Degree by entering prints in the national print competition held annually. Twenty-five merits are required, with a minimum of thirteen being print merits.
PHOTOGRAPHIC CRAFTSMAN DEGREE
The Professional Photographers of America presents the Photographic Craftsman Degree to
members who have earned 25 national merits, 13 of which must be achieved through platform
or convention speaking at any PPA affiliated function.
CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER
The Professional Photographers of America Standars Program encourages members to improve their technical and business skills, and attests to each photographer's level of professional ability.
The Certified Professional Photographer is now a requirement for getting a Masters degree.
One must pass the examination and required image submission as well as provide four favorable references to receive the competency rating of CPP.
Tennessee Members in ASP
The American Society of Photographers was formed in 1937. It is an organization dedicated to fostering the ideals of Professional Photography as a science and as an art. Only possessors of PPA degrees may join.

SOUTHEASTERN AWARD
The Southeastern Award is the second highest honor given at the state level to a photograpoger
who has performed outstanding service to the profession.
It is presented annually by the Tennseess Professional Photographers Association at the Awards Banquet.
SOUTHEASTERN PPA GOVENOR'S AWARD
The Southeastern PPA Govenor's Award is bestowed upon those individuals
who have given outstanding service to the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association
or to the photographic industry.
This award is presented bi-annually at the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association Awards Banquet.
"MAMA" MOSS AWARD
The "Mama" Moss Award is presented to someone, other than an active member, who has contributed outstanding service to the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association.
It is bestowed at the Awards Banquet.
TENNESSEE CERTIFIED DEGREE
To become a Certified Photographer, a member must earn 30 state merits, 16 of which must be print competition merits.
The medallion is gold and green and worn on a green ribbon.
To become a Certified Artist, a photographer must accumulate 30 state merits, 16 of which must be
craft merits.
The medallion is blue and gold and worn on a blue ribbon.
TENNESSEE SERVICE DEGREE RECIPIENTS
To earn a Service Degree, a member must earn 30 state achievement and service merits.
The medallion is green and worn on a gold ribbon.
Print competition merits cannot be applied toward the Service Degree.
Once both Service and Certified Degrees are earned,
a gold/green (Certified & Service) or blue/green (Artisan & Service) ribbon are worn.
Gold bars are given and worn on either ribbon for every 20 additional merits earned.
