Classification of Membership

APPLICATION FEE of $25.00 is required for first time applicants and / or if membership has expired or lapsed. For studios with five or more members applying for the first time, one application fee will be charged.

ACTIVE MEMBER may be any person who is a proprietor, corporation officer or partner of an established place of business engaged in the practice of professional photography, or an employee of a business engaged in the practice of professional photography; or any person who is the head of a photographic department used by and for business and professional photographic services, although the principal business of the firm is not photography, and that all Active Members' business engaged in the practice of professional photography shall be within the State of Tennessee. There shall be a limit of five Active Members from any one corporation.

$200.00 includes one (1) year Active Membership, registration to the Annual Convention and Trade Show, registration to the annual Seminar, and a subscription to the "Ground Glass."

ASPIRING MEMBER shall be a person who is a resident of Tennessee who is considering the profession of photography.  This membership does not require proof of business license and sales tax numbers.  Membership in this category is for a maximum of two years but can upgrade to Active Membership at any time before two years and individual has never held a membership with TPPA. At the end of two years, the member must switch to an active membership as long as they satisfy the requirements.  Aspiring members have no voting rights, cannot hold office, cannot use TPPA logos, are not eligible for scholarships, and cannot enter salon print competition.  Aspiring members receive registration to the annual TPPA Convention and Trade Show, along with registration to the annual TPPA Seminar.

$150.00 includes one (1) year Aspiring Membership and a subscription to the "Ground Glass."

HONORARY LIFE MEMBER shall be any member so honored by the Board of Directors.  An Honorary life Member shall have all the rights and privileges of an Active Member.

$0.00 includes lifetime Active Membership, lifetime subscription to the "Ground Glass," and an Honorary Life Member patron listing in the convention program book.

All other Membership Classifications are subject to a Registration Fee to the Annual Seminar,

Convention & Trade Show

ASSOCIATE MEMBER may be an employee of an established place of business located within the State of Tennessee engaged in the business of professional photography; or any individual who derives any portion of his / her income and / or devotes any of their time for gain to photography in the fields of portraits, commercial, industrial, photojournalism or as photographic instructors.  Under this classification you MUST be employed by, or associated with an Active Member. An Associate Member shall not have the right to vote or hold office, but shall have the right to attend all of the functions and receive all publications of the Association.

$50.00 includes one (1) year Associate Membership and a subscription to the "Ground Glass."

SENIOR ACTIVE MEMBER shall be an active member who has retired from the practice of the professional of photography, provided the active member shall have been a member of the Association for a period of 25 years.  A Senior Active Member shall have all the rights and privileges of an Active Member.

$25.00 includes one (1) year Senior Active Membership and a subscription to the "Ground Glass."

The above classifications include membership in the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association (S.E.P.P.A.); free registration at SEPPA Convention (held every odd year: 2007, 2009, etc.,) their quarterly magazine, "The Southern Exposure," and admittance to the trade show ($150.00 savings.) You must maintain a T. P. P. A. membership for two consecutive years prior to receive the S. E. P. P. A. benefits.

SUSTAINING MEMBER shall be a person representing a photographic supply house, or photographic manufacturer, or a person who provides goods or services to photographers; however, a Sustaining Member shall not have the right to vote nor hold office, but shall have the right to attend all functions and receive all publications.

$100.00 (up to 3 people) includes one (1) year Sustaining Membership and a subscription to the "Ground Glass."

OUT-OF-STATE MEMBER shall be a person who resides or has their business in another state. An Out-Of-State member shall be eligible for Print Competition and Out of State Ribbons only. An Out-Of-State Member shall have no voting rights nor can hold any office of the Association.

$50.00 includes one (1) year Out-Of-State Membership and subscription to the "Ground Glass."
